Thiruvananthapuram: Governor Arif Mohammed Khan in his Republic Day speech criticized the educational policy in Kerala. He said that Kerala needs independent educational organisations without external interference. The Governor said that Kerala should promote a healthy democracy while emphasizing that the external interference in Kerala’s higher education is polluting its academic sector.
The Governor gave his Republic Day speech at the Thiruvananthapuram Central Stadium after hoisting the National Flag at around 8.30 am. On the occasion of 75th Republic Day celebration, the Governor expressed salutations to those who bravely fought and sacrificed their lives for the freedom of our country. He started his speech by greeting the people in Malayalam. The Governor read a few lines from a poem of Mahakavi (the great poet) G Sankara Kurup and said that the central government is making the poet’s dream come true.
” Happy 75th Republic Day to all! On this occasion, the people who fought for the country are remembered. This Amrit kaal today is the golden era envisioned by Mahakavi G Sankara Kurup. India will become a developed country by 2047. May we be able to take our country to the top for the great souls who gave freedom to our country! Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s goal is Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam.
