Thiruvananthapuram: Despite facing a severe economic crisis, the government does not appear to be reducing its extravagance.  According to reports, an order was issued by the state government allocating an additional fund of Rs 10 crore for the Keraleeyam program. This additional allocation was made in accordance with the instructions of the Tourism Department. On December 23 of last year, the Tourism Department sent a letter to the government requesting funds for the Keraleeyam program and the release of the funds was executed by the government on January 23.

Initially, the government had allocated Rs 27 crore 12 lakh for Keraleeyam. Subsequently, an additional fund of Rs. 10 crore has been allotted. The allocated funds include Rs 9.39 crore for the exhibition, Rs 2.97 crore for light decoration, Rs 3.98 crore for publicity. A sum of Rs 3.14 crore had already been sanctioned for organising cultural programs. The government has organized Keraleeyam in a lavish manner despite the ongoing financial crisis and treasury control.
