Thiruvananthapuram: Pinarayi Vijayan justifies the ‘Keraleeyam’ programme and Nava Kerala Sadas campaign programme despite not distributing social welfare pensions for the past 5 months. Pinarayi Vijayan said that Keraleeyam and Nava Kerala Sadas programmes were not extravagant in any way.

The Chief Minister’s justification was given during the motion of thanks presented in the Kerala Legislative Assembly. He added that the programmes were campaign programmes focused on the development of the state. It is part of Kerala’s progress and planning to move forward. CM Pinarayi again emphasized that it should not be seen as mere celebration events and that the programmes will be conducted in upcoming years as well.

However, Pinarayi Vijayan’s government’s Keraleeyam and Nava Kerala Sadas programmes faced criticism from several corners for being conducted while the state was under severe financial crisis.
