High Court directs government to clarify whether CPI(M) leader PV Anwar’s park has license

Ernakulam: The High Court has directed the government to find out whether CPI(M) leader and Nilambur MLA PV Anwar’s park in Kakkadampoyil has a license. The court has directed to give it a reply within three days. It has been asked to be informed whether the Kakadampoil park has been issued a license from the panchayat.

The action was taken after the petitioner in the case filed an RTI document in the court stating that the panchayat has not issued license to open the children’s park. The park, which was closed by the collector due to lack of license, was later opened by the government.

Kakkadampoyil is identified as a high risk area by the Disaster Management Department. The park was constructed by knocking down the sides of the mountains in violation of the directive that there should not even be a rain pit in such areas due to the risk of landslides.

A probe report by district administration in 2018 had accused CPI(M) MLA PV Anwar, of carrying out unauthorized construction at Kakkadampoyil theme park. As per the report, the park had not obtained the final no-objection-certificate (NoC) for its functioning. Anwar was also accused of altering the actual plan to carry out the illegal construction at the site.
