Thiruvananthapuram: The CPI State Council convened at the MN Memorial witnessed harsh criticism directed towards Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan for his perceived luxury and extravagant lifestyle. The meeting, attended by senior party members, raised concerns over government’s decisions, particularly regarding the issue of foreign universities, which were deemed as deviating from leftist principles. Calls were made for this issue to be forcefully addressed in the upcoming left front meeting.

Additionally, criticisms were directed at the construction of a stable at the Chief Minister’s official residence. Senior leader R Latha Devi, wife of the Food Minister, humorously lamented on the relentless efforts of the Food Minister in corresponding with the Chief Minister, suggesting CM’s lack of responsiveness.

The lack of budget allocation to the Food Department was another sore spot, drawing widespread condemnation. Furthermore, attendees decried the lack of pre-discussion and planning in the budget preparation process.

Minister Chinchu Rani highlighted discrimination faced by the Animal Welfare Department in budget allocation. But the state secretary Binoy Vishwam took the stand in the meeting that the party’s opposition should not come out till the election is over. He said that the differences and problems inside the party have been informed to the concerned people.
