Thiruvananthapuram: Union Minister V Muraleedharan lashed out at AK Saseendran, Kerala State Minister for Forest and Wildlife, in the wake of the tragic incident in which a man was killed by a wild elephant in Mananthavady, Wayanad district on February 10. Muraleedharan launched a scathing attack on AK Saseendran, demanding his resignation. He stated that Saseendran should resign, emphasizing that the Forest Minister has failed to protect people from wild animal attacks.

Muraleedharan mentioned that the family of Ajeesh, the man killed by the wild elephant, also demanded the resignation of AK Saseendran from his position in the Ministry, as he failed to safeguard the public. He added that taxpayers’ money is being completely used for the extravagant expenditures of Kerala state Ministers.

Muraleedharan further criticized the forest department for failing to warn people, even though the elephant was fitted with a radio collar.

Muraleedharan blamed the Kerala government for joining hands with the Karnataka government in protesting against the Central government and to spread fake information against the Central government. He suggested that if the Kerala government truly cared about its people, leaders would discuss incidents of wild animal attacks and find solutions. He added that incidents of wild animal-human conflicts along the Karnataka-Kerala borders are increasing, yet Ministers are not taking any action to safeguard people.

Furthermore, he accused Wayanad MP Rahul Gandhi of being completely unaware of the incidents happening in his constituency.

Muraleedharan criticized the state Forest Minister’s response to the issue as unfair, when the Forest Minister stated that the wild elephant is under the surveillance of the Kerala Chief Minister’s Office.

Muraleedharan mocked that Kerala is being ruled by a Forest Minister who knows nothing about forests and a Finance Minister who knows nothing about economics, resulting in the suffering of the public. He questioned the Forest Minister about any plans to install electric fences or provide food for wild animals in the forest to prevent them from entering villages.

The Union Minister also urged the Chief Minister to explain the status of the Project Elephant initiated by the Government of India’s Ministry of Environment and Forests
