Thiruvananthapuram: Following the conclusion of the Nava Kerala Sadas, Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan has announced a new programme to engage with the public. Named ‘Mukhamukham’, this programme is said to provide a platform for individuals from various sectors to engage directly with the Chief Minister.

Scheduled to run from February 18 to March 3 across various districts, the Mukhamukham programme will provide participants with the opportunity to converse with the Chief Minister. Each participant will have precisely one minute to convey their problems during these interactions, raising questions about the programme’s practicality given the time constraint. District administrations are tasked with securing funding through sponsorships, similar to the model employed for the Nava Kerala Sadas. At the same time, the government has yet to disclose the expenditure figures for the Nava Kerala Sadas. The Public Administration Department has released guidelines for the implementation of the programme.

Participants representing women, cultural workers, forest dwellers, dalits, differently-abled individuals, the elderly, various occupational groups, agricultural sectors, and residential associations will engage with the Chief Minister. The inaugural session on February 18 in Kozhikode will focus on discussions with students, marking the beginning of a series of events scheduled in Kozhikode, Kannur, Thrissur, Ernakulam, Thiruvananthapuram, and Alappuzha.

Anticipating the participation of over 2,000 individuals, the programme allocates one minute for each participant to express their thoughts. Alternative provisions are made for those unable to speak, allowing them to convey their messages through written notes with a suggested limit of one page.
