Bengaluru: Chief Minister of Karnataka, H. D. Kumaraswamy, is trying every trick in the book to prolong the vote of confidence in the Assembly. Without the requisite numbers in his hands, it a confirmed that he will lose the floor test. He says that the floor test can happen on Monday or Tuesday.
Seeking to delay facing the floor test, Kumaraswamy asked for more discussion to take place in the House before going to trust vote. He also ignored the Governor’s demand to face the trust vote by 1.30 pm.
He said, “”Let’s have a discussion. You can still form the government. Nothing urgent. You can do it on Monday or Tuesday also. I am not going to misuse power. ”
The Speaker maintained that he will remain non-partisan in the floor test amid accusations by the BJP lawmakers that he had delayed the vote trust in a bid to give more time to the coalition government to stalk up its numbers.
The Karnataka Governor, Vajubhai Vala, had asked the Speaker to conduct the trust vote on Thursday under Article 175(2) of the Constitution. However, the ruling MLAs protested strongly against the intervention of the Governor in the matters of the House.
The Assembly has adjourned and will meet at 3 pm today. The opposition hopes to draw the Chief Minister to face the floor test. With the continuous delays and drama, the political crisis in Karnataka is still continuing.
