Thrissur: Athirappilly Police have registered a case against three employees of Thrissur Medical College Hospital following an incident involving driving an ambulance under the influence of alcohol.
The driver, identified as Suresh (52) hailing from Rappal, along with his assistants Sijon (46) from Mulayam and Rajeshkumar (52) from Mulanthuruthy, were arrested on Tuesday by the police. They were subsequently released on station bail.
The incident occurred while they were travelling to Peringalkuthu in Athirappilly. It was reported that the trio consumed alcohol while taking a discharged patient to their home last day.
The passengers in the ambulance alerted the police about the situation. Upon inspection, it was confirmed that the driver was indeed under the influence of alcohol. All three individuals may face suspension from their service pending further investigation.
