New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi, in his 110th ‘Mann Ki Baat’ address, praised the emergence of women power in the country. Prime Minister Narendra Modi called for nationwide celebration of the upcoming International Women’s Day on March 8th. He made this announcement today while addressing the 110th ‘Mann Ki Baat’ programme.

In his speech, he cited the words of the great Tamil poet, Mahakavi Bharatiyar, who said that a country will prosper only when women receive equal opportunities. Today, the women of Bharat are reaching new heights of progress in every field.

PM Modi then remarked, “Who would have thought, until a few years ago, that women living in villages in our country would be flying drones? But today, this is becoming a reality. Today, there is much discussion about Namo Drone Didi in every village.”

During the programme, PM Narendra Modi virtually interacted with Sunita Devi, a beneficiary of the ‘Namo Drone Didi’ project. Sunitha Devi is one of the beneficiaries from Uttar Pradesh’s Sitapur village. She was trained to operate drones under the women empowerment scheme of the central government, and this technology will be utilized for spreading liquid fertilizers in their own fields as well as those of other farmers. PM Modi also acknowledged the leadership roles of women in cleanliness and water conservation.

The ‘NAMO Drone Didi’ scheme was introduced by PM Modi in December 2023 with the objective of training women to become integral stakeholders in their local farming supply chains.
