Wayanad: The post-mortem report for Siddharth, a second-year BVSc student who was found dead by hanging at Pookode Veterinary College, Wayanad, has been released. According to the report, the backbone, head, and various parts of the body were injured, with the injuries estimated to be two to three days old.
The findings of the post-mortem report suggest the possibility that the student committed suicide after being affected by ragging.
It is reported that problems erupted on February 14 in connection with Valentine’s Day celebrations, during which Siddharth, the deceased student, was brutally beaten and insulted.
Siddharth had filed a complaint with the University and the National Ragging Prevention Committee, stating that he was a victim of ragging. The Anti-Ragging Committee subsequently lodged a complaint with the police.
A case has been registered against 12 individuals, including Siddharth’s classmates and senior-junior students, under the Ragging Prohibition Act. The accused in the case include the President of the College Union, a Union member, and the Secretary of the SFI unit. The police report that all 12 suspects are currently absconding.
