Thiruvananthapuram: For the first time in the history of Kerala, a high-temperature alert has been issued across 12 districts. The India Meteorological Department has issued a yellow alert in all districts except Idukki and Wayanad, indicating that hot weather is expected to persist.
For the first time in the 50-year record, temperature has surged by two to four degrees Celsius across most districts in Kerala. Anticipated temperature hikes include 38 degrees Celsius in Kollam, Kottayam, and Alappuzha districts; 37 degrees Celsius in Thiruvananthapuram, Pathanamthitta, Ernakulam, Kannur, and Kasaragod districts; and 36 degrees Celsius in Thrissur, Palakkad, Malappuram, and Kozhikode districts.
Meanwhile, the decrease in the difference between maximum and minimum temperatures, currently ranging from 8 to 12 degrees Celsius, has raised concern.
