Thrissur: Thrissur MP TN Prathapan has hinted at the possibility of a Congress-CPI (M) alliance in Kerala for the upcoming Lok Sabha elections. In an interview with the media, Prathapan stressed the need for cooperation between the Congress and the Communist Party of India (Marxist) to secure his victory in the upcoming Lok Sabha election.
According to Prathapan, the competition in Thrissur is primarily between the United Democratic Front (UDF) and the Left Democratic Front (LDF), with the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) identified as the primary opponent. He underscored the need for unity between Congress and CPI (M) at the national level, citing the emergence of the I.N.D.I Alliance to counter the influence of Sangh Parivar forces. He also asserted that the number of Congress MPs holds significance at the national level.
To convince the supporters of the communist party, he even said that he was not a blind anti-communist. Expressing his need for Congress to secure more seats in the Lok Sabha, Prathapan called upon communists to support Congress candidates, emphasising that their votes for him would contribute to preventing the BJP from gaining dominance at the centre.
