Mumbai: Bharat is gearing up to host the Miss World pageant after a gap of 28 years. The final showdown of the 71st Miss World pageant will take place in Mumbai today (March 9), with renowned film director Karan Johar serving as the host for the competition. Preliminary rounds and various minor contests were held on February 18, leading up to today’s main event at the Jio World Convention Centre in Mumbai.

The last time Bharat hosted the Miss World pageant was in 1996. The current Miss World, Karolina Bielawska from Poland, will pass on the crown to this year’s winner during the event, scheduled to commence at 7:30 PM today.

Representatives from 120 countries will compete for the Miss World title. Sini Shetty from Karnataka has been chosen as Bharat’s contestant. Following Manushi Chhillar’s victory in 2017, anticipation is high to see if Sini Shetty will win the prestigious title of Miss World for Bharat.
