Thrissur: DYFI Block President Nidhin Pullan has been charged under the KAAPA Act and ordered to be deported in connection with the vandalization of a police jeep in Chalakudy. The deportation order was issued by DIG S Ajitha Begum. After being arrested in the case and spending 54 days in jail, Nidhin was released on bail on February 13.

The relevant incident occurred on December 22 during a triumphant demonstration by SFI at the government ITI, which resulted in a clash. A group led by Nidhin attacked a jeep carrying five police officers, including an SI. The case alleges that DYFI and SFI activists climbed onto the bonnet of the police jeep and vandalized it. Nidhin has been charged with attempted murder, destruction of public property, and obstructing the official duties of the police.

Nidhin was taken into custody at the time of the incident but was later released by activists under the leadership of CPI(M) Area Secretary KS Ashokan. Although a case was registered regarding the forcible release incident, individuals including Ashokan were not arrested.
