Chennai: Tamil Nadu minister TM Anbarasan has been embroiled in controversy after allegedly making threats against the life of Prime Minister Narendra Modi during a public event. An FIR has been lodged against him following the incident, with Delhi Police registering the case under five sections (153, 268, 503, 505, and 506) of the Indian Penal Code.

TM Anbarasan, a prominent figure in the DMK party and a minister in the Tamil Nadu Cabinet, delivered a speech at an event where he purportedly openly threatened to harm the Prime Minister. His statement, “I am being soft because I am a Minister. Else I will tear you (referring to the Prime Minister) apart into pieces,” has sparked significant controversy and criticism.

The threat remarks made by the minister have drawn widespread condemnation. Annamalai, the president of the BJP’s Tamil Nadu unit, took to social media to express his outrage, stating, ““With frustration creeping up with the rise in anti-incumbency in TN, DMK Ministers are going to the extent of issuing threats to our Hon PM Thiru @narendramodi avl. DMK will soon be vanishing from the political space for their constant rants such as these, divisive politics, corrupt nature, affiliation with international drug peddlers, goondaism & misgovernance.”
