Thiruvananthapuram: Senior Congress party leader and former President of the Sports Council, Padmini Thomas, stated that she joined the BJP without any conditions. Padmini Thomas mentioned that she had contemplated this decision for a long time and joined the BJP without seeking any positions.

Padmini Thomas clarified that her decision to join the BJP was as a party worker and not by design, emphasizing that it was her own choice. Padmini Thomas revealed that she mentally considered herself a BJP worker a year ago.

Padmini Thomas expressed her admiration for Prime Minister Narendra Modi, highlighting the encouragement provided by his government to athletes and sportspersons, which motivated them to win more medals for the country.

Addressing the negligence of the Kerala government towards athletes, Padmini Thomas stated that athletes were protesting at the Thiruvananthapuram secretariat due to the government’s failure to disburse salaries for several months.

Padmini Thomas praised the Modi government for empowering women in all fields, including sports, and acknowledged the recognition received by athletes securing medals in international competitions.

Padmini Thomas noted that while PM Modi directly greeted athletes, no other Prime Minister had done so, emphasizing the motivational impact of direct encouragement.

Expressing her desire to serve the poor, Padmini Thomas prainsed the Prime Minister’s efforts to uplift them, citing initiatives such as providing gas connections and electricity facilities. Padmini Thomas emphasized the need for such developments to directly benefit Kerala, suggesting that a BJP government in Kerala would facilitate this.
