Union Home Minister Amit Shah paid tributes to the police personnel martyred in the encounter with Naxalites that took place in Chhattisgarh on April 3, 2021. Amit Shah held a high-level meeting at his residence to review the security situation in Chhattisgarh.

“I want to assure the martyrs’ families and the country that the sacrifices the police personnel have made for the country will not go in vain. Our fight against Naxalites will continue with strength, perseverance and intensity and we will take it to the end,” said Amit Shah.

Bodies of 20 security personnel were recovered from the jungles of Bijapur in Chhattisgarh, raising the death toll to 22 in the worst ever Naxal attack in four years that resulted from an ambush by some 400 naxals who surrounded the jawans from three sides.

The Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) lost eight men, while the local police lost 14 jawans. Search operation has been launched to find one soldier who is still missing.
