Jammu and Kashmir: The recent crackdown of the terrorists in Jammu and Kashmir by the Indian Army is showing sudden and positive results. With the elimination of many top terror operatives, the Jaish-e-Mohammad (JeM) is finding hard to replace the leaders killed by the army.

During a joint press conference by the Indian Army and State police force, GOC 15 Corps, K. J. S. Dhillon said, “We have targeted Jaish-e-Mohammad leadership, the situation now is that no one is coming forward to take over the leadership of JeM in the valley. Even after Pakistan’s best efforts, we will continue to suppress JeM, especially  after Pulwama.”

In addition, the Director General of Police in Jammu and Kashmir, Dilbag Singh said, “Recruitment of local youth continues to be low, it is a healthy sign. 272 terrorists were eliminated in the state during 2018 and a large number were apprehended. ”

Since January of this year, the Indian security forces have killed a total of 69 terrorists and caught 12 others in the valley.

Post Pulwama 41 terrorists have been killed and out of them 25 belonged to Jaish-e-Mohammed, 13 of them were Pakistanis.

The officers also said that operations against the terrorists will continue with full vigour and stressed that they will not let terrorism rise up.

The Kashmir valley has been on the boil ever since a JeM operative killed 40 CRPF soldiers in a suicide attack. India retaliated with airstrikes deep in Pakistani territory destroying the biggest JeM terror camps.

The security forces have been on high alert since the attacks and a huge crackdown is underway in the valley. Organizations like Jamaat-e-Islami are banned and many hardliners are put behind bars.
