Christopher Plummer, Oscar award-winning actor who played Captain von Trapp in the film The Sound of Music has died. He was 91.
His first Academy Award nomination came in 2010 for “The Last Station” and at 82, Christopher became the oldest Academy Award winner for “Beginners”.
He was in the industry for more than 50 years and enjoyed varied roles. He has acted in more than 200 films and TV shows. He won his Oscar for the 2010 film Beginners and most recently was Oscar nominated in 2018 for the Ridley Scott-directed “All the Money in the World”.
Plummer made his Broadway debut in “The Starcross Story” and went on to do sensational roles in films like Roman Empire (1964), Inside Daisy Clover (1965), Battle of Britain (1969), Waterloo (1970), The Man Who Would Be King (1975), The Silent Partner (1978), Murder By Decree (1979), Star Trek VI (1991), The Insider (1999), Twelve Monkeys (1995), Inside Man (2006), Up (2009), Beginners (2010), Knives Out (2019). 
Plummer is known for his role as widower Captain Georg von Trapp opposite Julie Andrews in “The Sound of Music”, a musical hit in 1965. He was one of the most admired character actors in Hollywood.
