The Sudipto Sen-directed The Kerala Story is unstoppable at the box office. Within just days of its release, the film has collected an estimate of ₹204 crores so far. Production house Sunshine Pictures confirmed the net collection of the film and how it continues to grow in the country. The Kerala Story is also making inroads in West Bengal after the Supreme Court stayed the ban imposed on the movie by the West Bengal Government.
The movie which was released on May 5, collected ₹100 crores in just a few days. As per reports, going into the second week of release, the film’s collection was ₹90.58 crore. The net collection of the film has made it the second-highest grossing film of 2023.
The film, which portrays the dire situation of society due to the terrorist activities of ISIS, was also released worldwide, including in America and Canada. The film depicts how three Kerala girls are smuggled out of the nation, recruited by ISIS, and transformed into tools for terrorist activities.
The Kerala Story is also hitting theatres in West Bengal after the SC stayed the ban on the film imposed by the government. Theatre owners in West Bengal said that various cinema hall and multiplex slots until next week are completely filled.
While many theatres in West Bengal were initially reluctant to screen the film, Sreema Hall in Bongoan, North 24 Parganas, was the first to show it. As per reports, the shows are almost full and are receiving a great response from the audience.
