Sprinter Hima Das who has won a gold medal in Asian Games in 2018 has been appointed as DSP in Assam Police. She will be posted in Guwahati.
Hima was handed over the appointment letter by former Union Sports Minister Sonowal at a ceremony which was also attended by top functionaries of the state government and the police department.
“I feel honoured to be a part of Assam Police. I thank Union Minister Kiren Rijiju for his support,” said Hima Das.
Union Youth Affairs and Sports Minister Kiren Rijiju confirmed on February 11 that Hima Das would continue running for the country even after being appointed as DSP in Assam police.
Hima Das is currently gearing up for Tokyo Olympics qualification at Netaji Subhas National Institute of Sports.
