Second phase polling is underway in Assam in 39 assembly constituencies, 38.12 percent per cent voter turnout has been recorded till 1 pm.
Assam is voting in three phases and a total of 175 candidates are competing the phase two elections from 15 seats in the three districts of Karimganj, Hailakandi and Cachar.
“Second phase of the Assam polls takes place today. Requesting all eligible voters of this phase to strengthen the festival of democracy by exercising their franchise,” tweeted PM Modi.
Keeping the COVID 19 protocol in mind, Voters are being screened with a temperature scanner, given hand sanitizer and hand gloves as they arrive at polling booths.
