Actor-turned-politician Mithun Chakraborty on Thursday said that he had never witnessed such peaceful polling in his lifetime, after casting his vote in north Kolkata.

The septuagenarian Bollywood idol, who joined the BJP at Prime Minister Narednra Modi’s rally at Brigade Parade Ground on March 7, is the new voter at the Cossipore-Belgachia assembly constituency in north Kolkata. He cast his vote at the 247 booth, the area where the actor’s cousin resides. His new voter card was transferred here early March.

Mithun Chakraborty was super hit during his campaign for a month from March 25, next to PM Narendra Modi and Union Home minister Amit Shah, in drawing people to the BJP rallies.

Barring few rallies he addressed, Mithun Chakraborty restricted himself in roadshows mainly across West Bengal.

“I had never voted so peacefully ever before. I must congratulate all the security personnel,” Mithun Chakraborty said while the security personnel were busy in keeping away the onlookers.
