Jabalpur (MP), June 2 (UNI) Launching a vitriolic diatribe against non-BJP dispensations that held sway in post-Independence India, saffron party President Jagat Prakash Nadda alleged on Thursday that such apathetic governments were squarely responsible for the populace being ravaged by poliomyelitis, measles, tetanus and Japanese encephalitis for decades.
Addressing a Youth Connect Programme here on the second day of his Madhya Pradesh visit, the erstwhile Union Health and Family Welfare minister said, “In stark contrast, when the right type of leadership assumed the reins, rapid development of an indigenous vaccine and systematic inoculation became hallmarks of the pandemic period even as other countries also benefitted due to our medical breakthrough.”
The leader pointed out that the Ujjwala Yojana terminated reliance on wood and other material utilised for cooking in rural areas, thereby preventing smoke-inhalation-related complications in womenfolk.
Touching upon the country’s glorious history, Mr Nadda said, Philosophers such as Adi Shankaracharya and Swami Vivekananda achieved dizzying heights at young ages. The nation’s struggle for freedom gathered momentum when immortal Bhagat Singh, Rajguru, Sukhdev and Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose injected fresh enthusiasm. Mahatma Gandhi’s Quit India Movement witnessed a quickening of pace when youngsters plunged into the fray. Young individuals played a crucial role vis-vis formation of the maiden non-Congress dispensation at the Centre. India is demographically the ‘youngest’ country in the world and has even vanquished China in that regard.
During his 29-minute-long speech, the BJP head referred to numerous development schemes and landmark achievements of the central and state governments.
