New Delhi: CPM rejects Draupadi Murmu , the official nominee of the BJP led National Democratic Alliance for the 2022 Presidential election. CPM General Secretary Sitaram Yechury said the issue will be considered politically and clarified that the opposition candidate will not be withdrawn.
Draupadi Murmu is a candidate from the tribal community and there is a political interest behind this. We are rejecting the decision as BJP’s aim is to polarize, says Yechury.
The CPM announced their support to Yashwant Sinha.
Draupadi Murmu is receiving a wide range of support even from outside NDA. Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik and others had declared their support.
Meanwhile, the Centre has provided a Z+ security of CRPF commandos to Draupadi Murmu. The decision was taken by the Home Ministry. It is the nation’s second highest level of security protection.
Draupadi Murmu, the former Governor of Jharkhand, was announced as the presidential candidate of NDA after the BJP Parliamentary Board meeting last day.
