Thiruvananthapuram: The High Court has today acquitted 13 RSS workers who have been accused in the murder of CPM goon Vishnu. The division bench quashed the verdict pronounced by the lower court. The lower court’s verdict demanded life imprisonment for 13 accused and questioning the verdict, they moved to High Court.

The High Court observed that there is no evidence as the accused had committed the crime and also noted that the prosecution has failed to prove the crime. Veteran advocates B Raman Pillai,  P Vijayabhanu and Arjun Sreedhar  appeared on behalf of the accused.

The incident took place in April 2008. Vishnu was a notorious criminal in the CPM area and had several goons and accomplices in his gang. Vishnu had close connection with Education Minister V Sivankutty. Vishnu had organised many crime operations in  the the University College. He was also an accused in the bomb attack case on RSS Karyalay. He was holding the position of CPM Vanchiyur Collectorate branch member while killed.

Vishnu was murdered during the reign of V S Achuthanandan. Local RSS workers were targeted and charged with murder case. Ranjith, a native of Mannanthala and one of the accused in the case, was brutally killed by CPM goons .
