New Delhi: The former Olympian and renowned sports icon P. T. Usha has sworn in as the Rajya Sabha MP.
The President had nominated 4 members including P T Usha to Rajya Rabha.
Usha met BJP president J P Nadda last day and later completed all procedures in the parliament.
Usha was received by BJP MP Manoj Tiwari from the Delhi International Airport yesterday.
Renowned music composers Ilayaraja, Screen writer Vijayendra Prasad Guru, Veerendra Heggade are others who were nominated along with Usha.
Usha was born in a village in Kozhikode district Kerala. She is one of the most influential and unique women sport personalities from the state who lighten up the dreams of several girls who have a desire to become a sports icon.
P.T.Usha’s family was also present in the parliament to attend the swearing ceremony. Before taking the oath, she said that she would contribute a lot to the nation’s sports sector.
