New Delhi: India said that the construction of roads in the India – China boundary is progressing even in midst of the conflicts that prevailed between the two nations.

Minister of State for Defence Ajay Bhatt gave a written reply to a question raised in the Upper House of Parliament on roads constructed in India’s border areas in the last 5 years and their cost.

Minister clarified that the government had spent 15,477 crore rupees for the border road projects. The central government has been constructing a 2088 kms long road through the boundaries.  He made appropriate replies with the backup of essential documents to counter the arguments put forward by the opposition.

The projects across the boundaries show the security of the nation is crucial and there is no compromise in it, said the Minister.

The Government had made various roads to enter and travel across the  borders of China, Pakistan, Myanmar and Bangladesh irrespective of the bad climate. Ajay Bhatt said that the government had already spent 20,767 crore rupees to construct roads of 3,595 kms. He also said that the border road projects have been taken over by the Border Road Organisation (BRO)

1,336 km road is being constructed near the India-Pakistan border at a cost of Rs 4,242 crore and 882 km road on the India-Myanmar border at a cost of 151 crores.

India has now started concentrating on expanding its relations to areas near the India-China border.

The Government has initiated to speed up the construction of roads, bridges and tunnels in background of the issues prevailed in the Line of Actual Control (LoAC)

BRO has decided to complete 61 strategic roads in the China border by 2022 December.
