NewDelhi: 18 Malayalees have got a place in the group consisting of 21 people in Durand Cup. Blasters have sent these young players as the first team is playing pre-season in UAE.
Arithra Das, Subha Khosh and Gaurav Kankonkar are the other non-Malayalees. Meanwhile, 131st edition started yesterday. Four groups of five teams each will face to each other in Durand Cup. Kerala Blasters’ first match is against Delhi on Friday. The football tournament will be organized in three venues. 20 teams will play in the tournament.
All 11 ISL teams will be in the Durand Cup and five I-League teams and four Indian Army teams will be part of the tournament. Kolkata, Guwahati in Assam and Imphal in Manipur will be the venue for the Durand Cup.
In Durands cup, only 6 ISL teams would arrive with the first layer and rest of the five teams sent either reserve team or the second layer. Meanwhile, the Kerala blasters may send the second layer.
