Meerut: Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Friday said that maintaining law and order is the top priority of his government and he would not tolerate any kind of laxity in crime control in the state.

He said, “Criminals must be treated in the way they deserve to be.”

During a meeting to review the progress of development works, welfare schemes, along with law and order in the Meerut division, Yogi directed the police department to curb crimes against women at any cost. “Such criminals should be identified and strict action should be taken against them,” he said.

The CM said, “Tough action should be taken against both criminals as well as those who protect them. Attempts to disturb the peace of the state will not be accepted in any situation. Such accused should be identified and arrested. Cases under Gangster Act should be registered against them.”

He asserted that providing a safe environment to all the citizens of the state including women is the main agenda of the government. During the meeting the officials informed the CM regarding sugarcane payments made in six districts of the division, Har Ghar Tiranga campaign and presentations related to 15 schemes were made.

Yogi said, “It should be your priority that the benefits of government schemes reach every section and every citizen. The government should strive towards making the state a ‘Uttam Pradesh’. We have been successful to a great extent and will continue making efforts for this in future too.”

He asked the officers to work at the grassroots level so that the common man can take advantage of the welfare schemes. “The officers should review the progress report of the schemes every month so that the schemes are completed in time,” he said.

Earlier, to give momentum to door to door garbage collection, Yogi flagged off 76 new door to door garbage collection vehicles, a mobile compactor and a road sweeping machine of the Municipal Corporation at Police Lines.
