Nehru Trophy Boat Race 2022

Alappuzha: The 68th Nehru Trophy Boat Race will be held today. Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan will inaugurate the boat race at 2 pm. After paying floral tributes to the Nehru statue, he will hoist the flag. 77 boats in nine categories are competing in the Nehru Trophy this year. There are 20 boats in the Chundan boat category.
In the other categories, Churulan-3, Iruttukuthi A Grade-5, Iruttukuthi B Grade-16, Iruttukuthi C Grade-13, Vep A Grade-9, Vep B Grade-9, Thekkanodi-3 and Thekkanodi(Kett)-3. Number of boats competing. The match will start at 11 am. The small boat race will be held first. After the inauguration in the afternoon, the chundan boats will start the match. The finals will be held from 4pm to 5pm.
Five races are held between chundan boats. Four boats will compete in each race. Tourism and Public Works Minister P A Muhammad Riaz, Finance Minister K N Balagopal, Revenue Minister K Rajan, Agriculture Agriculture Minister P Prasad, Water Resources Minister Roshi Augustine and other MPs and MLAs of the district will participate in the inaugural session of the race.
