Thiruvananthapuram: Former Health Minister and MLA K K Shailaja rejected the Magsaysay Award, known as Asia’s Nobel. She denied the award as the permission was not given by the CPM. The incident has caused a lot of controversy.
K K Shailaja was the health minister of Kerala during the corona period. The information is that the award is based on the activities during this period. But the party said that Corona prevention is a collective action. Due to this, she decided to reject the award.
The Magsaysay Award is an award established by the Philippine government in memory of Ramon Magsaysay, the ruler of the Philippines. Ramon Magsaysay took strong measures against the communist guerillas during his rule. The CPM also quotes this as the reason for denying the permission. The Magsaysay award was announced last day.
