New Delhi: The IT department has been conducting a massive raid in the offices of the political parties across the country. As part of the investigation over tax evasion, the raid is taking in only such offices that are not authorized.
The raid is being held in Gujarat, Delhi, Uttar Pradesh, Maharashtra, and Haryana in connection with funding by unauthorized political parties. If they find any illegalities in this, it can also be subjected to legal formalities.
The election commission had received complaints on the illegal funding of the political parties.
The election panel has recently announced that they will take legal actions against 2,100 authorized political parties. The action is on violating election rules and also for not updating the name and address of the members.
Election commission has also informed that some of the political parties are involved in the mismanagement of money.
