Palakkad: Doctors have been arrested in the death of a mother and child at Thangam Hospital in Palakkad due to medical error. Ajith, Nila and Priyadarshini, the doctors of the hospital, were arrested. Palakkad Town Police recorded their arrest after taking their statements.
Aishwarya, a native of Thathamangalam, and her newborn child died after giving birth. The medical board had submitted a report that the death was due to medical malpractice. The report stated that the doctors had made a mistake. This is followed by police action.
The incident happened in July. Aishwarya was admitted to the hospital for delivery at the end of June. At first the doctors said that cesarean would be needed, later they said that normal delivery would be done. During the delivery, Aishwarya suffered from excessive bleeding. She was then transferred to a ventilator but her life could not be saved. After this, the family came forward alleging medical malpractice as the cause of death.
