Tourist bus crashes into KSRTC in Vadakkencherry; 9 death; 7 people are in serious condition

Palakkad: A tourist bus overturned after hitting a KSRTC bus in Vadakkenchery. Nine people died. About fifty people were injured. The condition of 7 people is critical. The death toll is expected to rise.

The incident took place at Anchumurthimangalam near Kollathara bus stop on the national highway around 12 o’clock at night. A tourist bus carrying children from Ernakulam Mulanthuruthy Baselios Vidyanikethan School to Ooty met with an accident. There were 42 students of class 10, plus one and plus two, five teachers and two bus staff in the tourist bus.

The tourist bus hit behind the Kottarakkara-Coimbatore KSRTC super fast bus. While trying to overtake the car in front, the tourist bus went out of control and crashed into the back of the KSRTC. It was raining at the time of the accident.  The injured were shifted to Thrissur Medical College and a hospital in Alathur.

Five of the dead are students and one is a teacher. Three were KSRTC passengers. The deceased are: Elna Jose (15), Chriswint (16), Divya Rajesh (16), Anjana Ajith (16) and Emmanuel (16) and teacher Vishnu (33), KSRTC passengers Deepu (25), Anoop (24) and Rohit (24).
