Gandhinagar: Harshad Ribadiya, the former Congress leader and the Visavadar MLA, will join BJP today. He had resigned from Congress on Tuesday and also given a resignation letter from the post of MLA to the Speaker Nimabel Aacharya. The Speaker accepted his resignation.
The decision has taken prior to the assembly elections. It is indicated that more MLA’s will leave the party before the upcoming election.
Harshad has been posted as an MLA in 2017. The strength of the Congress party goes down with the resignation of Harshad. BJP, the ruling party of the state, has 111 members in the assembly. Apart from this, the tribal leader and Congress MLA Aswin Kotwal had also resigned from the party and joined the BJP this year.
