New Delhi: Mathrubhumi expressed apologies for the wrong usage of terminologies and information against RSS in an article. The editor expressed his apologies about the article titled “Will RSS terrorism swallow India”. The apology was given in the Mathrubhumi weekly of 9 October.
Mathrubhumi published the article written by Badri Raina on the basis of statements given by Swami Aseemananda to Panchkula Chief Judicial Magistrate Court. On the basis of this article, a case was filed in the Chief Judicial Majistrate Court, Ernakulam, by the Prantha karyavah P Gopalan Kutty Master.
Advocate K K Balram had sent a court order to Mathrubhumi on 19 March 2013. There were arguments that Swami Aseemananda’s statement was not voluntarily given by him and was the result of a conspiracy by the then UPA government to lighten the Islamic fundamentalism by pretending that there was a concept of Hindu-Terrorism. Later, in 2019 SC accepted that the statement was forcefully taken from Swami Aseemananda and acquitted him.
This made several setbacks to Mathrubhumi. Even though they claimed that they published the article strictly on the basis of research and studies, the complainants did not accept that. And Gopalan Kutty master filed a case at Ernakulam Chief Judicial Majistrate court against M N Ravi Varma, the printer and publisher of Mathrubhumi, P V Chandran, the Managing Editor, K K Sreedharan Nair, the then editor, M P Gopinath, the Deputy Editor, Kamalram Sajeev, the assistant editor, Writer Badri Raina and the translator K P Dhanya.
Mathrbhumi approached the High Court seeking dismissal of the case against them. But the court rejected the plea. They later approached the Supreme Court with the same request. But the SC accepted the verdict of the High Court and instructed it to continue the case in the trial court. With this, without any other means, Mathrubhumi came up with an apology. But the case against Mathrubhumi is still continuing in the Ernakulam Additional Chief Magistrate Court.
