Mumbai: One more container has been seized in Mumbai in disguise of fruit import. The drugs were found in the containers earlier sent by Vijin, who was arrested in connection with drug smuggling. Drugs worth Rs 520 crore were found from a container carrying green apples.
The container that stored cocaine was sent together by two Keralites Mansoor Thachamparambil, a native of Malappuram and Vijin Varghese, a native of Kalady. The drugs were found by an investigation by DRI following secret information received from Vijin during interrogation.
Last day, both of them imported drugs worth Rs 1,427 crore together in Mumbai. It was hidden in orange cartons and Vijin was arrested in connection with the case. In the following investigation, the DRI team checked the green apple container and seized around 50 kg of cocaine. This case has become the biggest drug smuggling case involving Malayalees.
