Thiruvananthapuram: The Governor again took strict action against the VCs who ignored his instructions to resign. The move is to recover the salary of VCs. Salaries of VCs of eight universities will be recovered. The Governor informed that the steps for this will be started soon.
The governor had issued a notice to the VCs who ignored the governor’s order to resign. Out of this, the time given to eight VCs will end at 3 pm tomorrow. But till now no one has informed the governor about the reason. In this situation, the governor takes strict measures. Salary from the date of appointment will be deducted.

The Governor will arrive in Kerala the next day. It is informed that after this an order will be issued in this regard. All eight VCs were appointed without a search committee. Earlier, the Supreme Court had quashed the appointment of the VC of the technical university citing that it did not follow the UGC norms. VCs can be appointed only after constituting a search committee as per UGC norms. In the context of this order, the Governor has directed the resignation of the VCs of nine universities in Kerala.

The proposal was as Chancellor. But with the assistance of the government, the VCs continue to ignore the governor’s instructions. Although the VCs challenged the show cause notice issued by the Governor in the High Court, the single bench order said that the final decision in this regard will be by the Governor.
