Kollam: The Excise Department has conducted a search in the medical store at Thangasseri in Kollam district from where drug tablets were sold to school children. Janamithra medical store was sealed after identifying the activities of selling drugs illegally, without doctor’s prescription.
Shocking details of drug sale was found on the search held by the Excise team at Janamithra store, that started functioning only three months back. The probe team has seized several fake prescriptions, combo packs of drugs and syringe worth Rs. 300 and tydol and nitrozen tablets. Excise has informed that more than thousand packs were already sold in three months.
Drugs Control Department has directed to cancel the license of the medical store. Excise team and Drugs Control department jointly held a search after obtaining a tip-off that school students are collecting drug tablets from medical stores of Kollam. More search operations will be conducted in the coming days too.
