Thiruvananthapuram: Education Minister V Sivankutty said that the protesters in Vizhinjam are acting like terrorists. The main demands raised by the strike committee have been accepted by the government. The minister also said that yesterday was the beginning of the riot attempt in Vizhinjam. The involvement of external forces is suspected to be behind the conflict. The minister added that there is no intention to suppress the strike.
The protesters attacked the police station last night demanding the release of the arrested ones. About 36 officers were injured. The police have registered a case against 3000 people. The police FIR says a loss of Rs 85 lakh has been caused in one night.
