Guwahati: All India United Democratic Front leader Badruddin Ajmal withdrew his remark that the Hindus should follow the custom of Muslims in the case of the age of marriage. Badruddin said that he did not aim to hurt anyone’s religious sentiments. His remarks made strong protests from the Hindu community.
He said that the remark was not made with an intention to hurt anyone. He also said that he is withdrawing his statements if it has hurt someone. He said that he only meant that the Government should ensure justice, education and employment for the minorities.
Last day, while speaking at a public event, Badruddin made anti-Hindu remarks. He said that the Hindus should follow Muslims in the matter of age in marriage. He said that the older you get, the harder to have children. He also said that the early marriage is the reason for the rise in Muslim population.
