New Delhi: Union Minister Piyush Goyal said that the food grains given at the time of flood is with a guarantee to pay later. The Union Minister accused Kerala of changing it’s stance now. There is nothing unusual about buying money. The Union Minister pointed out these matters in response to a question by Jose K Mani MP in the Rajya Sabha.
The Center provides assistance to states to deal with natural calamities. The state government should properly utilize the money allocated in this way. The Union Minister alleged that the state should be ready to spend the money allocated by the Center and that the state has failed to fulfill its duty to the people. He demanded that the money given in the relief fund should also include the price of food grains and that Kerala should be ready to utilize the money allocated by the central government properly.
An additional 89,540 tonnes of rice was allotted to Kerala during the flood. For this, the central government has demanded Rs 233 crore at the rate of Rs 25 per kg. The minister had earlier given a letter to the state stating that if this is not provided, the subsidy or central allocation will have to be cut.
