Kochi: High Court today harshly criticised the State Government for being soft on Popular Front, the banned religious terrorist organisation which had widely destroyed public properties during hartal. The HC expressed strong discontent over the procedures at a snail pace against PFI on the vandalism and destruction of public properties on the hartal day. The State Government faced the wrath of the court while the former asked for six more months to seize the assets.
Such negligence cannot be entertained in the grave incident where public properties worth crores was smashed. The court has also ordered to complete the seizure of assets within January. The plea will be considered again on Friday. The court asked the Home Affairs Secretary to be present before the court on Friday.
Wide spread attacks were reported on 23 September, the day when the Popular Front called for State wide hartal. The vandals smashed several properties including over hundreds of buses. The court had earlier too, directed the Government to inform the details of seized assets.
