Kochi: University of Health has justified the time limit for girl students staying in hostels. Hostels are not tourist homes to have night life. People become mature at the age of 25. The matters before that age should not be accepted, said the university in the affidavit submitted before the court.
Meanwhile, the High Court has stated that the new order issued by the Health Education Department on the time restriction for girls in the ladies hostel must be implemented. This instruction is given to the principals of Medical colleges.
The court has sought the Government’s explanation as whether the reading rooms of the campus can function during night, based on the newly issued order. The court also asked to inform the decision whether the students can go out of the hostel after 9.30 pm.
The students of the Calicut Medical College had approached the court on the night time restrictions in women’s hostel. The complaint alleged that girl students are not allowed to enter in the hostel after 9.30 pm.
