Thiruvananthapuram: The Kerala University of Health Sciences have decided to take action over the incident of distributing Degree certificates for the students who had not passed the examination. The University will take back all the certificates distributed to 64 students at the convocation ceremony. The certificates distributed in the convocation ceremony was not provided by the University but made by the college principal.
The University has the opinion that it is the responsibility of both the College and the Principal to check whether the certificates are distributed to those students who have succeeded. Vice Chancellor Dr. Mohanan Kunnummal informed that an emergency report has been sought in this regard. Seven students who received the certificate were in fact got it without passing the second year Bachelor of Ayurvedic Medicine and Surgery. There was a total of 64 students in the list. One of the ineligible students who received the certificate was the son of PTA member.
However, the organisers say that everything was arranged as per the list given by the House surgeons association, headed by the SFI.
Health Minister Veena George was the chief guest in the function held on 15 December. Veena Gorge attended the function via online and the certificates were distributed by the University Vice Chancellor Dr. Mohanan Kunummal.
