Chennai: Huge gold rush at the airport in Tiruchirappalli. Customs seized two gold biscuits worth Rs 8 lakh from the airport premises. The culprit was caught while trying to smuggle the gold hidden inside a tin. 147.5 grams of 24 carat gold was recovered.
The gold was seized from a passenger who arrived at Trichy airport from Singapore last day. Last month, a gold biscuit weighing 145 grams was seized from a passenger who reached the airport. 24 carat gold was seized on that day.
