Kochi: Popular front activist and lawyer Muhammad Mubarak, who was caught in the NIA raid last day, has been arrested and remanded. Mubarak is remanded for 14 days. He was arrested after an interrogation of more than 20 hours. He is a member of the Hit Squad, formed by the PFI to kill the leaders of other political parties.
The NIA clarified that the culprit kept double edged weapons. An axe that has the power to kill people easily has also been seized from him. Mubarak had kept these things as weapons for Kung fu training inside a badminton racket. Mubarak is a law student and practicing in the Kerala High Court.
Mubarak’s arrest was recorded after it was discovered that he had given sports training to the popular front activists. The action has been taken in cases voluntarily filed by the NIA. The recruitment of minors has also been noticed. Mubarak, who was an advocate in the High Court, has also dealt with cases related to the organization. He also started a coconut oil production unit recently.
