Alappuzha: Sectarianism is intensifying inside the CPM party in Kuttanad. After 46 activists resigned from Ramangari on the last day, members from Muttar have also resigned. Sectarianism continues to rage in Kainakary and Thakazhi.

In Kuttanad, in the places like Ramankary, Muttar, Kainakari and Thakazhi, the intra-party war that has been going on in the CPM for a long time has crossed all the limits. 46 workers resigned from Ramankary on the last day. Area committee members, branch secretaries, CITU and SFI leaders have submitted their resignations to the party state secretary through e-mail, courier and directly to the district committee. The resignation of workers in Ramankary is likely to continue in the coming days as the fight in the party crosses all boundaries.

After the assembly elections, the fight inside the party intensified in Ramankary. There were incidents of conflict between the workers and the panchayat member was beaten up and a scooter was set on fire. After Ramankary, about 40 activists resigned from Muttar in Kuttanad due to the intra-party war. In Kainakary and Thakazhi, intra-party fights and disputes between activists are becoming common.
